Each image must be corrected with a curve called ‘Gamma’, in order to reproduce the eye behavior
This compensation is automatic in real cameras, mobiles, tablets: we need to do the same in our renders.
In V-Ray the gamma compensation can be implemented in 2 ways:
Adding Gamma Saving the image – OR – Baking Gamma during the Rendering

GAMMA SAVED – (Default setting from 3ds Max 2014 + V-Ray 3)
We call it “Gamma saved” because of Gamma is added during the saving:
Fix your scene according to AutoGamma model:
- to be sure that gamma is added while saving, type fileoutgamma=2.2, then press enter
- Color mapping only (no Gamma)
- sRBG button – enabled
- Always use the default option
Starting from 3ds max 2014 the “output file” option is no longer available in preferences
The script is the only way that is applicable in any 3ds Max version
GAMMA BAKED, also called Gamma 1.0
because of no Gamma is added during the saving, in fact it’s added rendering:
Fix your scene according to Gamma Baked model:
- to be sure that gamma isn’t added while saving, type fileoutgamma=1.0, then press enter
- Color mapping and Gamma
- sRBG button – disabled
- Always use the default option

Gamma Recruitment is a limited time in-game Global Event. It includes new benefits and rewards for new Jem'Hadar/Vanguard characters known as Gamma Recruits that are created and complete the non-repeatable introductory mission “Turn the Tide” during the event, and additional rewards for their whole account.

Any Jem'Hadar/Vanguard character created and completed the non-repeatable introductory mission “Turn the Tide” during the Event will remain a Gamma Recruit indefinitely, allowing players to progress through objectives at their own pace, with certain benefits available for their whole account.

- This meeting is classified.
- You are one of a special breed, chosen by the Founders for great things.
- To that end, we will supply you with special gear and training.
- Use this transponder to directly contact us on a secure channel.
- I expect regular reports, especially regarding unusual developments.
- And do remember - victory is life.
Features and benefits[edit edit source]
- Gamma Recruits have a temporary bonus trait Gamma Recruit (during the event only) which awards Salvage for the player's entire team upon defeating enemies.
- Gamma Recruits will find out quickly that they have been selected to participate in a series of special operations. These will help to prepare for combating the Hur’q threat, and operating alongside new allies from the Alpha and Beta Quadrants. Their handlers within the Dominion will issue a special Transponder device, allowing a new UI element to be accessed which will display these additional objectives.
- This is represented by the Gamma Recruit Window, a new UI element in the mission tracker. This UI is accessible to Gamma Recruits by using the [Dominion Transponder] that they obtain at the end the non-repeatable introductory mission “Turn the Tide” during the event.
- Unlike previous Recruitment events, there are no weekly server-side goals to pursue as Gamma Recruits during the event window.
- On the first occasion only of this event all accounts received an extra Character Slot with the launch of Victory is Life.
Rewards[edit edit source]
- Completion of Gamma Recruit goals provides certain rewards for all level 20+ characters on an account. Once the Gamma Recruit character has reached level 65+ and accumulated 20+ hours of play time, account-wide rewards can be claimed by visiting the Temporal agent at each faction's social hub:
- Philip Crey at Earth Spacedock.
- Commander Q'on in First City.
- Subcommander Kail at the Romulan Flotilla.
